From some reading in my RSS feed, there’s a bit about bookshelf stairs that just is really cool.
10 allspice berries
10 juniper berries, crushed
10 cloves
10 cardamom pods, crushed
4″ ginger, peeled and 4 pieces
3″ fresh tumeric
2 vanilla beans
2 tsps grains of paradise
1 1/2 tsps aniseseed
4 cups tap water
2# clover honey
1/4 tsp orange extract
4 cups everclear
Combine water and spices and bring to boil. Reduce to simmer until reduced by half. Strain.
Heat honey to just below boil and skim off any foam. Mix in spice liquid, orange extract and bring to heat.
Remove far away from any fire and add alcohol. Run through filter into bottle. Shake daily for 2 weeks. Let set for a month and separate from any sediment. Bottle and let set as long as possible.
Went to the doc about this pestersome cough I’ve had for a week and took the day off. The cough isn’t an infection and should be gone soon. Seems to be the leftovers from a cold mixed with a liitle fall allergy action.
With the time outside of my napping (it’s part of the recovery!), I made a bunch of bias tape and am try to finish the Cotehardie of Blue. Yeah. 114″ of bias tape. Guess I get to really practice my handsewing now. At least I have netflix streaming to accompany my quest.
Ricky [sp?] the cat where I play games on occasion was fairly happy to let me scratch his belly and under his chin tonight. It made me quite content and miss having a cat around for general petting purposes.
So soft…
I received a voicemail today via my google voice number and the transcription had some very interesting phrases. It was a 2 minute message so there was plenty to get wrong. My favorite was:
[...]there’s like a power outage just done everything just chat sauces and my number’s going.
Chat sauce? I feel like that would be a white sauce. Easy to get bland but sometimes it’s much deeper and comforting that one would expect.
Took the in-progress garb to 4th Sunday to show off what I did so far and determine next steps. I’m really digging the blue linen and can’t wait to do more colors. I will be a garb rainbow… 
Making lots of cloth buttons is in my immediate future and I think I’ll need to find a good tv show to watch or have someone over for some sewing goodness or both. The thought of casting my own metal buttons is enticing tho.
Baby steps first. Tedious, cloth baby steps. And bias tape; my nemesis once again.
Why do I put things off til the last minute?
I’ve been all over my new garb but have no specific thing to make it for (other than to be super good looking, heh). The homework that was due by 3am that I had a week to do? Just got it submitted. Bleh. I need to evaluate my priority queue for stuff I think.
