I’ve been in Vegas for my weeklong trip for work and it has gone exceedingly well. I’m limiting my gambling for work since they tend to not like me expensing too much for people when everyone is here. I played a few of the games I’d looked at back in May during a previous trip out here and looked for a few more details that I hadn’t gotten around to examining before. Star Trek is still a favorite because it hits that nerdy part as well as the gambling love. Even knowing that in the end I will lose doesn’t detract from the entertainment of playing the games.
I also played some video poker while sitting at the bar in Bally’s with a drink. It was a nice end to a day full of walking (pedometer says about 8 miles), sitting in booths (I’m not quite a booth babe yet) and browsing what our competitors have on the floor. There are some pretty cool things out there but not a lot of radically new stuff.
Dinner tonight was partly business with an outside vendor and yet was still pretty great. We went to the Palm Restaurant in Caesar’s Palace and had some incredible grub. I started with a lobster bisque that was just divine. Smooth, creamy and a perfect balance of the seafood and buttery-richness. Main entree was a large filet with a nice peppery seared crust. It was a great medium rare with fairly good taste for a filet. There were sides of asparagus, sauteed mushrooms, creamed spinach and 3-cheese potatoes as well. I didn’t do much of the potatoes but the rest of it was enjoyed immensely.
Finally I got a wonderful creme brulee with fresh raspberries on it. The top was nicely caramelized and had that very slight burn that makes it all so good.
Everything went well and the conversation was lovely as well. The more time I have spent in Vegas, the more it grows on me and I’m already looking forward to a return. It would be nice to come back on my own dime so I can appreciate it more without having an obligation to be certain places at a specified time. Even being in a primarily vacation spot, I’m still here for work and that trumps any desires I have to see things like Hoover Dam, shows and various things of that sort. It would be great to come here with a SO to share the experience as well. Things to do, things to do…
